WELCOME HOME

Collective San Diego exists for the world to know Jesus by the unity and love we have towards one another. Out of this love, we will show our local community, city, state, nation and world God’s unfathomable love, grace and compassion.

At Collective we seek to be a welcoming place for those that are doubting, a safe place for those that are discovering and a challenging place for those that are growing.

OUR PASTORS

ANTHONY & LINDSAY BIVENS

Lindsay and I have often envisioned a safe place for people from all walks of life to realize the riches of God’s love and discover the fulfilling gift of new life in Christ. We know this kind of safe, transparent and authentic environment would be the breeding ground for God’s love and grace to thrive. From this, many would serve and worship God, not out of obligation, but from a much deeper well of love, unity, and gratitude. This is the church we saw. We believe God is creating something beautiful for His people and for His glory. In our journey, we want to ask you about yours. Could God be calling you to partner with us? We pray that as you learn more about Collective San Diego, you will find your story and journey crossing paths with ours.

OUR VALUES

WE TAKE CHRIST AND HIS KINGDOM WORK SERIOUSLY, NOT OURSELVES.

It’s one thing to take your work seriously, but it’s another thing to take yourself seriously. Our work as Christians is certainly to be done with the utmost of care and devotion. But the minute we shift our focus towards ourselves is the minute we can start to go in a direction that God may not wanted.

BEING LOVING AND COMPASSIONATE IS WHO WE ARE, NOT WHAT WE DO.

We have all seen the person who is going through the motions. The action may be right but the heart behind it is not. Our goal is to be completely authentic. We want to love others and show compassion not because we have to, but because we want to.

WASHING FEET IS NOT BENEATH US.

Jesus modeled humility and meekness throughout the Gospels. His relentless pursuit to serve others gives us a great example of how we ought to treat each other.

PEOPLE > TASKS.

The fundamental building blocks for the Kingdom are relationships. They are not programs, systems, or productivity. Often times we will have to sacrifice efficiency and achievement for the necessity of relationship. It is our task to live into Christ’s love, grace, freedom and unity with one another as we work to be a light to our community. We will always choose relationship over tasks.

WE GIVE BECAUSE WE RECEIVE.

Throughout the Bible we see that God has not held back from giving to His people. In turn, we have the opportunity to extend this generosity to others because of what God has already given us and continues to give us. Out of the gratitude in our hearts, we willingly and cheerfully give our lives, time, resources, gifts, talents and abilities to God and His kingdom work.

WE WORSHIP AND PRAY HARD.

It is our desire that we offer to God the totality of our lives. Staying connected to Him gives us strength for our lives and joy for hard times. With this consistent deep connection, we get to experience all that God planned for each one of our lives.

WE HIGHLY VALUE CREATIVITY.

God’s unique creative nature is not something that is exclusive to just Him. It is an attribute that has been passed down to His creation. We believe that is imperative that we utilize our God-given creativity that He has placed in us all.

WE TAKE RISKS, EVEN IF THAT MEANS FAILING.

Stepping out into new territory takes guts. It takes God-given courage to do new things. When new ideas succeed, we celebrate. When new ideas fail, we fall forward by growing and learning. Regardless of the outcome, we will always look for new ideas and innovative solutions.

WE WANT GOD’S PLAN FOR YOU, NOT OUR PLAN FOR YOU.

It’s not about getting people to fit into our boxes or our programs. It’s about encouraging each other to seek out God’s will, helping them discover the talents/gifts that God has uniquely placed inside them, and equipping them to use those talents/gifts for God’s Kingdom.
